Reviews & Purchasing Experiences

charlyc: purchased this and reviewed that Great TankYour going to love this tank it’s tall and easy to get it up and running. Plus, you can’t beat the price almost hundred dollars cheaper than anybody else and free shipping, wow. It was packed really well in a non-descript box. You should watch some YouTube videos for the lighting schedule the manual is a little confusing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

You can place it against the wall, but I get it in a corner so that I can enter the back rooms. I can peek inside and check what maintenance work is being done by using a torch. The second and third chambers’ backs contain glass for inspection.

Any heater you purchase will not work. Next week? Next month? After a year? Whatever you do, it will fail. Either it succeeds, freezing your fish, or it fails, boiling it. However there is a remedy, so don’t hold your neck in your fish tank in desperation! Obtain two more compact warmers. Get 2x 50W rather than 100W. In the event that one fails, the other works harder to prevent the temperature from falling too far. If either of these fails, your water will simply become a little bit balmier than usual. Better yet, purchase three 30W warmers.

My tank has been with me for eight months, and I keep this one in my studio apartment. I bought a heater for it, but it seldom ever turns on, and the tank’s temperature remains nearly constant at 79 degrees. The temperature has risen to 80 degrees in the summer. Although I’ve pointed the pump exhaust tip up to the surface, the pH has remained consistently low, and I believe there may be a relationship with the lid arrangement. I am unable to bring in outside air, as is occasionally advised to help with low pH.

You can start a saltwater tank, yes. My saltwater has never been mixed. I always purchased it pre-mixed. Although expensive, there was always a sufficient number of everything. Also, many additional items, such as a skimmer and other items, will be recommended by aquarium experts. I bought into it all, but I never used them for the entire time I owned my tank. Money wasted, in my opinion. You only need the bare minimum and salt water. A wonderful time!

Good day! Around 2-3 inches before it quits filtering, but reducing the water line that much will result in a lot of air bubbles within the tank, which may not be what you want.

Avoid purchasing smaller fish because they tend to get stuck in the back. That is a highly persistent and annoying problem. I’ve got to keep netting those scumbags out of the filter, the refugium, and other places. The rest is alright.

Really, it all depends on the specific coral. My stylo has significantly expanded over the past year, but the size of the horn reef has remained constant. Near the bottom of the tank, I have a peppermint pavona, cup coral, & lepto that are all flourishing.

When it comes to front-back depth… It measures roughly an inch longer in the center than it does at the sides because the front is bent back. The deepest part of the “glass” is 15″ from front to back. The built-in filtration system takes up the remaining 5″ of the front-to-back depth. Hence, total front-back depth, including filtering seconds.

I also received a protein skimmer. But it does not appear to do very much. The coral life video was not the best I’ve read. Other ones available that match the biocube. And some others that are said to be better but call for a minor adjustment to the biocube’s hood.
