I don’t have a photo ready, but my 10″ gel foam mattress leaves 18″ from the top of the mattress to the top of the headboard rail. So, if you have a 12″ mattress, there should be about 16″ of headboard above it. This does not count covers or duvets or comforters that will add an inch or so – maybe more. With my mattress, and the bed made up with the pillows leaning vertically against the headboard, only about 3″ show. So you would probably have only the top rail showing about your pillows. If you lay them down more as the vendor photo shows, you might get a few more inches showing. You almost certainly will not see the vertical arched section of the headboard, though.
