Scamper purchased black and decker space heater and reviewed that “Big Warmth From a Little Heater” This little power house of a heater is perfect for my bedroom. It is a 15′ by 15′ room with a window (large older farmhouse type windows) that faces north. The other window is on the west side of the room gets plenty of afternoon sun in summer. I second “kwmar”. The dial thermostats on these types of heaters are junk. I had a Laski for years that recently died; the only way I could effectively warm my 10×10 bedroom (and myself) was to run it continuously on max, manually adjusting as needed. The thermostat never seemed to work right; it would click off and stay off leaving me freezing until I adjusted it, or run for over an hour overheating me until I shut it off. These are good, cost effective heaters but you have to know the trick to using them.
Normally the Prop65 warning lists at least one of the problematic substances (like lead or cadmium). Unfortunately without having the product tested or seeing valid test results from the company it’s impossible for a consumer to know all the hazardous substances in a product. What I can tell you from my own research though are normally small appliances have toxic flame retardants in the cord, or heavy metals like lead and antimony.
