The two I received are a harder silicone. They are flexible, not bendable, which is ideal for everyday life. Hot liquids will obviously make it more bendable and colder will make it less. They look and even feel like a hard plastic but don’t have the little knobs at the bottom like most others which is fine because the straw is going nowhere unless physically moved.
I got the galaxy picture and mine is dishwasher safe. The company says that they are all dishwasher safe several times while reading down their Amazon product page. When you first open it up, there is a note that tells you to handwash the cup before using it for the first time and I think that this is where some are saying that their cup isn’t dishwasher safe, which is untrue. That being said, a texture matte color/pattern will show more wear and tear than a glossy/smooth one. You can tell which are which by looking through each color and while looking at the picture, the smooth ones will show a light reflection down the center and the matte ones will not. I will still probably hand wash mine though.
Because of the sleek design, it can be hard to get a grip on the lid, if it’s twisted on too tight. I’ve had this happen, and I’ve easily been able to get it off, by using something that helps me grip the edge. This sounds crazy, but the rubber shelf liner that can be purchased in rolls is perfect! I use this stuff any time I can’t open a jar, or lid. Just cut a piece big enough to go around the edge of the lid, grip the lid and twist. It gives you the leverage you need. Hopefully have shelf liner at home! It’s a good “hack” product to have for lots of things!

You do not need a straw if drinking straight from cup without cover! I don’t like this particular bottle that’s why i switched to Contigo! This bottle is not insulated and not spill proof! Good luck!
